How We Work
Every client is different, and every situation is different. But here's the type of process we typically go through when developing a new website.
1. Initial Meeting
We meet to understand what you want and whether/how we can help. If we mutually agree to move forward, we’ll send you a written proposal. As part of this proposal, we estimate the total project cost. We can work on a fixed-cost or hourly basis. Under a fixed-cost quote, we promise not to exceed the quoted cost without your explicit prior agreement.
2. Content Framework
Based on information that you supply, we develop a proposal on how to best organize and communicate your message on the web. We review it with you and get your approval, making any adjustments as required. This Content Framework represents about 25% of the total project cost.
3. Design Template
We sketch out a design (i.e. look-and-feel) for your website’s home page and subsequent pages. Again, we review it and get your approval. This Design Template represents about 25% of the total project cost.
4. Site Content
Some clients prefer to write their own content (i.e. words). But if you wish, we’ll write, spruce-up and/or edit the content for your website.
5. First Draft Website
Based on the Site Content, Content Framework and Design Template, we build a “first draft” of the actual website. You can request (reasonable) changes.
6. Final Web Site
Based on your feedback, we create the final version of the website, test it to make sure everything works, and then implement it “live” on the Internet. We typically have a 15-day warranty period, during which we correct any problems with the site.
